Rev. Cyril A. Stevens – Sermon 0265AB recorded on December 10, 1980 teaching from 1 John 5:1-5,14,15 – Basics About Praying.
Pastor Cyril A. Stevens delivers a teaching on the fundamentals of Christian prayer, emphasizing that effective prayer requires a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and must be rooted entirely in a desire to glorify His name. He explains that believers can approach God with absolute assurance when they make their requests according to divine will, comparing the act of prayer to cashing a signed check that guarantees delivery from God’s storehouse. Furthermore, the sermon highlights that prayer is a necessary catalyst for fulfilling God’s purposes, urging believers to persistently seek divine wisdom, pray for the salvation of others, and ask for more laborers for the harvest. Ultimately, Pastor Stevens encourages Christians to rely on the Holy Bible and daily obedience rather than complex formulas to understand God’s will and experience a vibrant, powerful prayer life.
