Rev. Cyril A. Stevens – Sermon 0256A recorded on November 23, 1980 teaching from 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 – The Lord Jesus Shall be Revealed from Heaven with His Mighty Angels.
Pastor Cyril A. Stevens utilizes a tragic Las Vegas hotel fire as a sobering backdrop to challenge his congregation’s pursuit of fleeting pleasures and material wealth. He uses the act of chewing gum as a lighthearted but pointed metaphor for meditation, urging listeners to “chew” on the reality of God’s presence and the inevitability of divine judgment. The teaching centers on the multifaceted role of angels, describing them as celestial attendants who bring good tidings, celebrate over repentant sinners, and provide constant protection to the faithful. Ultimately, Stevens calls for a life of radical obedience and spiritual sincerity, warning that believers must maintain a close fellowship with Christ to avoid being caught in the “folly” of the world.
